Packing for Du Pont

Tomorrow morning we will be on our way to Du Pont in Delaware. We are taking Andrea to see the specialists there. It is about a 6 hour drive for us. Our car is not the best so Hollie offered to take us. She is a friend of mine that is a school teacher so she has the summer off. We are hoping to scope out some of the sites that are in that area. Kind of like a girlfriend's getaway with appointment in between. No husbands and only one child. We should have a good time.
We will be close to Philly. There are a lot of historical things to see not to mention shopping. Who loves a good bargain. Oh I do! I do!

So if you think about us tomorrow say a little prayer that we make it there safely and that the Dr.s will have the wisdom when they see Andrea. Pray that we might get some answers about her condition.

Wish us luck,

New Look

I pray that you like the new look. It took me many hours trying to figure out how to do it all. I still haven't figured out how to keep the blog list when you are adding a new layout. I think that is what takes me the longest. Adding all of the blogs I like reading. There are so many I am not sure that I remembered them all. If I forgot you I am sorry. Just post me a comment and let me know and I will gladly add you to the list.

Looking for a new look

I have been searching for a new background for my blog.I am getting bored with looking at these bugs. The problem is I really haven't found anything I like.
So I am asking you all for a favor. Could you look for me? The website that I usually use is PYZAM.COM
Because it is a free site.
The only criteria that I have is that the writing background isn't to dark. Something a little easy on the eyes to read. That and it has to have a code that I can copy and paste. That is all that I know how to do. lol

I would greatly appreciate all of your efforts in helping me find something pretty for my blog.

I'm Addicted!

Beijing 2008

For the last 2 nights I have been glued to my television watching the Olympics. I am amazed how fast the swimmers are. I sit there and ponder over some of the events. Why do they have that and why are they wearing that, and are they really that old?
It amazes me at all of the new technology that has been put into swimming suits. Who knew that you needed a suit of latex just to shave off seconds on your time? They look like dolphins.
But hey whatever works for ya.

The men swimmers are wearing more clothes than the ladies volleyball team. Would a tank top get in the way of their performance? I was afraid they were going to have a wardrobe malfunction while playing. They must have some secret duck tape holding their uniform up.

Then as I am starting to sit down to watch the team female gymnastics I hear that they have to be turning 16 this year to compete. OK I know those Chinese girls have to be only 12-13. They say that their passports say that they are of age. But who issues the passports? The Chinese government. So you know those have to be fake. Like for real.

Last night I sit down and wanted to watch the ladies all around gymnastics and what do you think came on first? The mens indoor volleyball. I sat watching and started seeing that every time the USA team scored a point they would huddle, hug each other, then slap each other on their rumps. When I saw it for the first time I thought. Wow what a good team. Then they did it every single time. I about gagged. You think they would have to draw the line somewhere. But they didn't. Maybe it gave them good luck. They won their match. Hey whatever works for you. They all have lucky butts.

I had to wait unitl after 10 just to watch the events that I wanted to see. The competition was great. I was up till 2 just so I could watch the interviews with the 2 ladies. I feel so sleep deprived right now jsut from watching everything.

Are you watching? What are your thoughts on the whole thing?

It was so rainy that on the last night we made smores in the camper over the stove.

Even though it rained on and off all weekend I would do it again in a heartbeat. We made so many great memories with the kids this weekend.

Home from Camping

We are home from our Cub Scout camping trip. We were suppose to stay behind and stay another night but it rained and everything got soaked. It pretty much rained off and on all weekend. But everything in our tent stayed dry. Except for tonight when it poured. The kids stuck their blankets up against the sides of the tent.Letting all of the water into it.
Our friends Hollie and her husband Nate have a camper so they stayed nice and dry. I made Hollie bring me and the kids home tonight.
Bill had to work. He had to work all weekend. Thus leaving me with 4 kids and helping with the hole pack all by myself.
Let's just say momma is wet and and feeling a little tired. It is time to go soak in some bubbles and crawl into a warm comfy bed.
I will try and post pictures tomorrow. I don't know when cause we have to run out to the campsite and tear everything down.

Ta-ta for now,

Kind of Slow right now

Nothing new is really happening right at this moment. Me and another mom are planning a Cub Scout camp out for my son's pack and their families. So that has taken a lot of my time. Organizing, packing, and shopping on a budget to feed 25 people for the weekend.
Which I have to say I am becoming a pro at the whole shopping thing.
I hope that everyone is taking advantage of all of the cool savings and free samples that I have been posting.
Not only and I planning the camp out but I am trying to get Andrea's medical records sent to Alfred I.Dupont in Delaware. Then making reservations for lodging. We are taking Andrea there at the end of the month to see Dr. Bober and Dr. Mackenzie for the first time. We have 2 days of appointments. We are hoping that we get a diagnosis at this time.
If not then it would not be a shock to me. As no one else has been able to do it this far.It will just be great to see someone that specializes in bone dysplsias. They actually know what they are looking for.
Before anyone asks. We have done all of the standard things that someone would do to find out what type of dwarfism they have. We have had genetic marker testing,we have had skeletal surveys sent to Ceders in LA, we have had all sorts of tests done and every thing comes back as abnormal but with no definite diagnosis
. Dr.s say at the age of 4 is the perfect time to redo all of the scans to see if there has been any change. Then to see what type of dwarfism she fits into. You never know she could be one of the many that have no category. We will see.
In the mean time nothing is going to change. We will still live our lives and treat all of children the same. All though I have to say that they are both spoiled. Hehehe.

Saving on groceries Without Clipping Coupons

I found this article at money saving mom

Lower your grocery bill without clipping coupons

I've received numerous emails from people recently asking how you can lower your grocery bill if you don't live nearby stores which have good coupon deals or if you don't have time to clip coupons. While I'm a big proponent of coupons, I understand that they don't work for everyone in every season of life in every area of the country. Here would be a few of my top recommendations for ways to lower your grocery bill without clipping coupons:

1) Plan a menu and stick to it. Seriously. If this is the only thing you ever do, you'll greatly reduce your grocery budget.

2) Shop once per week or less. The less you shop invariably means the less you spend. I recommend you have a grocery budget, plan your menu and list with your grocery budget in mind, use a calculator to tally up your running total as you shop, and only bring the allotted amount of grocery money with you in cash.

3) Stick with simple, inexpensive meals. I'm a big believer in simplicity. There's an occasional time and place for the elaborate, six-course dinners, but for the everyday, keep it simple. We like to have a main dish, homemade bread of some sort, and then fruit or veggies of some sort to round things out. I plan our main dishes around what we already have on hand and what meats and other mainstay ingredients are on sale.

4) If you live nearby a store which does run sales, plan your menu based upon the store sales. The simple step of taking a few extra minutes each week to browse the store fliers and create your menu based upon what is on sale there will greatly enhance your savings. If you have more than one store which runs weekly sales, check both fliers and decide which store to do your shopping at based upon which store has the best sales.

5) Shop at Aldi. I know every area doesn't have Aldi stores, but if you do, you should be shopping there. I don't recommend buying everything at Aldi, but there are many things there which are very comparable to name brands at the store, but which are routinely quite a bit less. Our Aldi standbys include: fruit (especially bananas, apples, oranges, grapefruit, and frozen fruit), tortillas, some veggies, frozen veggies, and staple ingredients. You have to be a bit flexible since Aldi doesn't always have everything in stock and the produce is sometimes hit and miss, but we've saved hundreds of dollars each year by buying 25% or so of our groceries at Aldi.

8) Cook from scratch, as much as possible. It's a no-brainer, but cooking from scratch with simple, inexpensive ingredients is likely one of the greatest ways to save money on your grocery budget while also eating more healthfully. We enjoy some processed foods as a treat, but I attempt to have the bulk of our diet made up of fresh fruits and veggies and homemade items. With some planning ahead and cooking in bulk and freezing, you can eliminate the need for many processed foods without spending a great deal of time and thought.

One of my best tips to help one be more efficient when it comes to cooking from scratch is just to look for ways you can make extra. If you're making waffles, make a double batch or triple batch and freeze the leftovers for breakfast later in the week. If you're making cookies, double the recipe, bake what you'll eat right away, and freeze the rest of the cookie dough in balls and then pull out how many you'll need and bake them later.

Another thing which has worked well for me is to try and bake for a few hours one day per week or to take 20 minutes everyday and bake up a triple batch of something and freeze most of it. This guarantees I almost always have a few different things on hand for quick breakfasts or snacks or bread to go along with dinner.

What are your best recommendations for saving money on groceries without clipping coupons?

Cheap School Supplies

I know some of you are wondering how you are going to afford to send your kids to school with their school supplies. I know I am wondering where the money is going to come from.
So I found a list from Keeping the Kingdom First. She has a list of the cheap things that you can get at Staples right now. Some are for pennies.

Well, I am not quite sure why, but Staples is really generous lately with the bargains. Maybe they do this every year and I have been oblivious. But I am not complaining!

Once again, they will have some super cheap goodies next week, beginning Sunday, July 27. These are available in-store only, while supplies last, so don't dilly dally!
